Paul has been playing in pipe bands for 30 years, beginning with the Cu’Chullain Pipe Band and playing there for 15 years. During that time, he played snare in the Grade IV band as well as bass in their Grade IV and Grade III bands. The band was named Champion Supreme for the Grade IV in 1988.
In 1995, the ROMSPD was founded and Paul became lead drummer at about 1998. In 1999, Paul played with the Sean McGonigal School of Piping at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow in the Grade IV. The band took 8th overall and the drum corps placed a respectable 6th.
Paul currently takes lessons from Eric MacNeill of the Oran Mor Pipe Band. He has taken lessons from Billy Mair, Martin Duffy, Gordon Bell, and Reid Maxwell.
